Our Multi-Purpose room is designed so that it can be used by all the classrooms for gross motor development on a much grander scale than can be done in the classrooms. Our Multi-Purpose room is great for those rainy days when the kids can’t get outside. Because our Multi-Purpose room has rubberized flooring and floor drains, indoor water play can be enjoyed throughout the year! Our Multi-Purpose room is also equipped with a Karaoke machine and sound system for music related activities.
© EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Young children enjoy music and movement activities and often use them to express their feelings and emotions. Actively participating in movement and music helps children release energy and frustrations. © SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT: Dancing and singing together forms bonds and relationships. Young children playing musical instruments together, playing musical games or dancing together in a group, teaches children to take turns, be thoughtful of their peers and to be cooperative. © PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT: Dancing and musical movement requires the use of large muscles. Spinning, hopping, swaying, marching all require large muscle control. What better way to develop coordination? Add instruments to the mix and those small muscles get a workout. It takes hand-eye coordination to get those instruments to work. The children only know that they are having fun, but the added bonus is that their small muscles are in training for future endeavors such as buttoning their clothes, tying their shoes and reading and writing. © LANGUAGE ARTS – Music and movement are probably two of the most powerful training tools for future academic success! Music that involves activity and musical games teaches the children to follow directions and increase their attention span. © AUDITORY MEMORY and SEQUENCING: As children learn the words to songs, they are developing their auditory memory and sequencing skills. These skills will be essential for spelling in their academic years. © SOCIAL SCIENCE – Multicultural awareness and acceptance of other ethnic groups is reinforced when the children dance and sing to music from other cultures. © MUSIC IS THE CULMINATION OF INTEGRATING CURRICULUM TOPICS – Songs about animals, transportation and other themes reinforce what the children have learned in the classroom. Singing about colors, numbers and shapes helps reinforce basic concepts. |
